Liz Wallin was founder and executive director of Project Lia, an Indianapolis nonprofit social enterprise that employed women returning from incarceration. The organization collected discarded materials from around the city and remade them into home décor sold online and from a storefront at the Circle City Industrial Complex — work that paired paid employment with skill-building, education, and the community acceptance Wallin considers decisive in changing someone’s path.

She now teaches elementary school in Indianapolis with the Indianapolis Teaching Fellows. Project Lia was part of the Economy of Communion’s International Incubating Network, which mentors new EoC ventures worldwide and features Lia among its enterprise stories.
