Web Accessibility

Last updated September 9, 2026

We want everyone to be able to read, search, and watch the material on this site, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

The standard we build to

This site is built against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That is the benchmark most public institutions in the United States work to, and it is the one we test against.

What that means in practice

  • Every page can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, without a mouse.
  • Text and background colors are checked for contrast so the words stay readable.
  • Headings, links, and buttons are marked up so a screen reader announces them correctly.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
  • The site reflows down to a phone-sized screen, and up to large text sizes, without losing content.

Videos

The interviews are hosted on YouTube. Captions are available on the player, and where a transcript exists it sits on the page with the video so the words can be read and searched rather than only heard.

Where we know we fall short

Accessibility is not a box that gets ticked once. Some material predates this site and has not been fully reviewed, and third-party content such as the YouTube player is outside our control. We fix what we find, and improving access is an ongoing effort that includes regular review by our developers.

Tell us about a problem

If something here is hard to use or impossible to reach, we want to hear about it. Email hello@economyofcommunion.org and tell us the address of the page, a short description of what happened, and the assistive technology you were using at the time. We will look at it.
