In business school, we'll talk about profit maximization, right? But the fact of the matter is we all use some of our profit for things that maybe don't I mean, maybe they make more money in the long run, but we do things, right? We we pay for extra. We buy new carpet when maybe we didn't need to buy new carpet for the office yet, but we buy it anyway. We pay for um special snacks for the employees, whatever.
We do certain things. Maybe it improves morale enough to like make us more money, but maybe it's just like we just do that. And so there's ways that you decide to use your money and not make quite as much profit as you could have. I think as an EOC entrepreneur, I think about that a lot more. I think about how do I use this money in ways that can help the lives of others. And so I'm not focused nearly as much on how can I accumulate so much for myself, but how can I use what I do get in ways that really helps the lives of others.
Um there's other situations where we'll have someone who is behind on rent and we decide, you know what, it's okay. We're not going to kick you out. Like you'll catch up. Or even sometimes we just forgive it. Or sometimes people get so far behind we just say like, you just need to find another start. We're not going to come after you for the thousands of dollars you owe us. just find someplace else to start and we'll leave you alone and we wish the best for you.
And so those are ways I think that we practice business that a lot of people would be like, "Well, that's not just I need to get my money. I need to go to court." And we try not to go to court about anything if we possibly can cuz that's just that's not how I think about things.
