I I think it's a very I think it's it's a very relevant and pressing question that's really hard for individuals to answer in part because of the way the market is structured. Just because you divest doesn't mean another investor will divest, right? And so just because you don't own that home as a rental doesn't mean it won't be a rental. So there I think we have very important questions about who we choose to sell to when when it's our time not to own it as a rental.
I think it would be important to be willing to work with homeowners who are getting a traditional mortgage and are going to require an inspection and it's going to take longer to close and it's going to be a hassle to me. And it would be important to choose to work with those people if I had an option to sell one of my rentals to a homeowner rather than take the easy way out and sell it for cash without a bank involved to another investor.
Um the honest truth is some of we just as an easy example we just sold a property recently. We owned it with another with a partner and we're trying to shut down that partnership. It's it was time for that partnership to um dissolve and um we tried to fix up the house in a way that could make it attractive to homeowners. But there were just there are just certain things about that property. It's on a busy street.
It's landlocked. It doesn't have any off- streetet parking that just make it not very attractive for a homeowner. It's the kind of place people are willing to rent, but they don't want to buy that, you know. And so we did what we could to maybe attract a homeowner. It would have been great, but at the end of the day, we sold it to another investor. And there are reasons for that, you know. Um, but I do think it's super important to be conscientious about the way in which the current economy around rental homes is locking out the next generation of homeowners.
And we have some responsibility as rental owners to do what we can to mitigate that problem. Even though I think it's ultimately a structural issue that requires governmental policy to really help. All of the homes we bought were previously rentals. various. Oftentimes they were houses that had already been cut up into many apartments and sometimes we've kept those apartments and sometimes we've transformed it back into a single family dwelling, you know, but they were rentals. In any case,
