this idea uh in many business circles of of someone saying, "Listen, it's just business. It's not personal." They're usually trying to let you down with a bad decision that's being made that's all about being selfish. It's all about when that when someone says, "It's just business. It's not personal." They're really saying it's just about me making money. It's not about you. And I would say this, that's the most terrible business idea and excuse I've ever heard.
I think everything in business is personal and should be personal. And people should feel a sense that if I'm trying to take too too much myself, you ought to feel a little bit of guilt from doing that because that's not the way life should be lived. So that when I hear that and I heard that early on from someone I I gave a quote to someone actually someone who knew me and he said, "Well, John, I can't use you guys because someone else bid on this project and they were $50 less out of like $3,000."
And I thought, "How can you not give that to me? That's only $50 difference and you're saying it's just business. It's not personal." That kind of stung when that happened and it was a reminder. I will never try to ever do that just based on that idea of who has the best bottom line quote.
