John Mundell is founder, president and CEO of Mundell & Associates, an Indianapolis-based earth science and environmental consulting firm he started, serving corporations, government agencies and international organizations. Trained as a geotechnical engineer and geologist at Purdue (BS 1979, MS 1980) with a further master’s in environmental engineering from Notre Dame, he began his career at ATEC Associates as it grew into one of the largest geotechnical and environmental consultancies in the U.S.

He built his own firm from the outset as an Economy of Communion business, following Chiara Lubich’s model in which companies pursue profit while sharing it with those in need and cultivating a culture of giving at work. Mundell serves on both the international and North American EoC commissions and helped create the “”Company Cube,”” a workplace tool for living EoC values now used by businesses worldwide. From 2022 to 2025 he directed the Vatican’s Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
