Sustainable Development

Anne Godbout, EoC entrepreneur, is the founder and President of Spiritours in Montreal, Canada, which she has run for nearly 3 decades. Anne explains Spiritours decision to pursue a sustainability certification for their tourism business. Motivated by the values of the EoC, they sought to deepen their commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Through certification, the company works to support local economies, respect cultures, especially Indigenous communities, and encourage both partners and travelers to act responsibly toward the environment and the places they visit.

  1. How does sustainable tourism benefit local communities and cultures?
  2. What role can travelers play in protecting the environment and respecting the places they visit?
  3. How might sustainability certifications like Travelife help businesses improve their practices?
  4. How do environmental and social responsibility connect with the values of the Economy of Communion?
