One of my favorite stories of Providence was during CO when nobody would talk to each other or go outside hardly. My wife and I would go out for a walk in our neighborhood in Gford Park. We'd go pray for a two-mile walk around and nobody else was outside. So, we were alone just talking together. We were praying because we were actually at a point where we had one handyman who did a lot of things for us, but he was way behind and so we needed someone else to help us.
So, we were praying like, "God, please give us someone who will help us with these handyman things." We'd been praying that for a number of weeks and we were getting back to our house and we live on a corner and so we were coming up along the along the street by our house and I saw this guy across the street cuz you notice people in CO cuz there weren't many people out. He was in his truck looking at us.
I was like, I wonder what that guy's doing. And then he got out of his truck when we got up to the corner. I'm like, he's coming over here. And then we turned and we were going to walk alongside walk in front of our house and then go into our house. And he was coming up behind us and I turned around. I said, "Can I help you?" He said, "Yeah." "Are you Andy?" And I said, "Yes, yes, I'm Andy."
He said, "Do you need someone to help you with your work on your properties?" And I was like, like there's like what's going on here? Like why? Uh yes, I do. Like I said, what what could you do? He said, "Oh, I could do lots of things." I said, "Okay, how about can you can you put in a door on a house, like an exterior door and like take out the old one and put a new one with the whole frame?"
He said, "Sure." I said, "Okay, meet me tomorrow. I'll bring a door and I'll see what you can do." And the next day he came and he put in the door and he did great. And then I said, "Well, there's Stuckco here around the edge. Can you redo that?" And he said, "Sure." And then he redid that and now he's been working for us for over four years and God just dropped him in our lap and we we are so grateful for him and I still to this day don't know exactly why he came to us or how this all happened but it ca it happened and so I'm just so thankful for that.
But there's moments like that that frequently have happened in our business experience. And it, you know, it gives you faith, I think, when those moments of providence happen that when things are going really badly, you just think things will probably get better. Like, we'll get through this. And that helps.
