You don't need to think about a big business idea to be a EOC entrepreneur. You know, UC spirit can spark, you know, a fertile ground for changing a person's life and uh people's life or community's life by understanding what their needs are and understanding people's talents as well, how to connect those things, you know, and uh and maybe just give them some a little bit of support, a spark to make that happen. And for me that's the opposite that I learned in economic development where in economic development I started 30 years ago was about a lot of funds going build a factory in a country where producing things that actually people didn't need there and meanwhile a few people were pocking all the money and making zero impact on the ground you know while this one-on-one relationship really made a difference and so what I've seen in other countries is that a lot of those micro experiences uh that are making um a difference with very little money so often times people say D may
not have collected a lot of money, given a lot of money in terms of some businesses share, some of their profits, but the impact I think has been disproportionate because um uh the money really goes uh to support you know new initiatives that solve real problems because of the relationship you know because of the needs that are very clearly identified.
